Officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, Egypt is located in North Africa, including the Sinai Peninsula, which is a land bridge to Asia.  the country is bordered by Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and the Gaza Strip and Israel to the east.  The northern coast borders the Mediterranean Sea and the island of Cyprus, and the eastern coast borders the Red Sea.

Egypt is famed for its ancient civilizations and is home to some of the world’s most famous monuments – the Great Sphinx and the Giza pyramid complex.  The southern city of Luxor is home to numerous ancient artifacts, for example, the Valley of the Kings. CLIMATE:Egypt does not receive much rainfall, except during winter, when most rainfall is between October and March.  Temperatures range between 27 to 32 degrees Celsius in summer and up to 43 degrees Celsius on the Red Sea coast.  Winter temperatures average between 13 to 21 degrees Celsius.  A constant northwesterly wind keeps temperatures down on the Mediterranean coast.

VISA: A visa is required for entry to Egypt except for EU nationals travelling to Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Newiba or Taba resorts, who will receive an entry permission stamp on arrival
