THE PASSION PLAY

The small alpine village of Oberammergau is world famous for the passion play performed by its villagers every ten years. The next season of performances will be in the year 2010, when more than 1,500 richly-costumed Oberammergau villagers will take part in the passion play, fulfilling a solemn promise made by their forefathers in 1633. Tens of thousands will travel to witness this dramatic event.

Itinerary
Tue 3 August:
Dublin - Brussels. Early morning flight from Dublin to Brussels with Aer Lingus. One checked-in bag is included per person. Stay two nights at the 4-star Hotel Bedford.
 
Wed 4 August:
Brussels. Enjoy a guided tour of Brussels in the morning. Afternoon free to explore Brussels at your leisure.
 
Thu 5 August:
Brussels-Luxemburg-Strasbourg. Travel to Luxemburg for lunch (not included). Continue on to Strasbourg for two nights at the 4-star Hotel Regent.
 
Fri 6 August:
Strasbourg. This morning, enjoy a guided tour of Strasbourg. You will have the rest of the day to yourself.
 
Sat 7 August:
Strasbourg-Lake Constance-Damuls. Lunch by Lake Constance. Travel to the Damuls region of Austria for three nights at the 4-star Hotel Mittagspitze.
 

Sun 8 August:
Dalmus. Morning free. Afternoon optional excursion on the Bregenzerwaldbahn steam railway.
 
Mon 9 August:
Dalmus. Optional full-day excursion to Switzerland on the Glacier Express.
 
Tue 10 August:
Dalmus-Freienfeld. Travel via the Faschina Pass, Arlberg tunnel and Merano (stop here for lunch) to Freienfeld (Italy) for two nights at the 3-star Gasthof Larch.

Wed 11 August:
Dolomites. Full-day excursion of the Dolomites.
 
Thu 12 August:
Freienfeld- Innsbruck-Fussen. Scenic drive through the Italian Tyrol with lunch en route in Innsbruck. Continue on to Fussen (Germany) for a 1 night stay at the 4-star Europark International Hotel.
 
Fri 13 August:
Oberammergau. Travel the short distance to Oberammergau for one night stay at 3-star Hotel Klausenhof, Murnau or 3-star Hotel Griesbrau, Murnau (because the hotel are small here, the party will be accommodated at two hotels). Murnau is a small village to the north of Oberammergau. Dinner between the two parts of the play will be in Oberammergau centre. Experience the once-per-decade spectacle that is the Passion Play. It begins after lunch, with an interval for dinner.

Sat 14 August:
Oberammergau- Heidelberg. Take the Romantic Road to Heidelberg for two nights at the 4-star Leonardo Hotel. 

 Sun 15 August:
Heidelberg. Enjoy an escorted tour of the famous and romantic city during the morning,
including entrance to Heidelberg Castle.
 
Mon 16 August:
Heidelberg-Boppard-Brussels. On the way to Brussels, you will enjoy a fabulous Rhine cruise. Return to the 4-star Hotel Bedford in Brussels for a Farewell Dinner and overnight stay.

Tue 17 August:
Brussels-Dublin. Transfer from your hotel for your Aer Lingus flights home.
